Education with an edge
Professional actors and educators Craig Lawrence and Sara Hodges combine wordplay and swordplay to provide students with a unique look into Shakespeare's work. Through examining the way violence is presented in such classics as Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth and Hamlet, students will gain a visual and kinesthetic understanding of the characters and societies that populate the work of one of the most prolific playwrights in history.
Part show, part lecture, part hands-on learning experience, Blades of Shakespeare is a wonderful complement to Drama, English, and History classes. The program can be tailored to your students' needs, focusing on specific shows they may be studying or performing each semester. Students will also have an opportunity to test out the different combat styles highlighted in each show (under expert supervision).
**Please note that all "weapons" involved in the production are blunt, theatrical props, constructed for safe use by stage actors.**
